Digital Marketing: the solution for Entrepreneurs and Brands
“How can you lead your own life/business?”
This is one of the first questions any entrepreneur asks themselves and in the last session we had one of our clients, Ydalmis Carrasco, speak about her journey and the first steps and advice that helped her to lead her own business “Leading Life”.
In our series “On a marketers shoes” we invite different marketing executives to share their experience and knowledge. Ydalmis Carrasco works in Sales, Marketing and Commercial operations. She started her own business as a business coach five years ago and at the same time she dedicates her time into being a bestselling author, managing her own podcast, a public speaking engagement, corporate contracts, and online courses.
Speaking from the perspective of an entrepreneur, business coach Ydalmis shared many insights regarding how to manage her own business and how to coordinate that with now one of the most important types of marketing: Digital Marketing.
It can be viewed as a journey and every journey comes with its ups and downs. Also, the journey of connecting your business with digital marketing faces challenges and benefits.
She shared a lot of advice that can be very useful for other entrepreneurs, brands, and marketers out there that are about to enter the business industry or are trying to improve in the industry of digital marketing.
Let’s look deeper into this journey and its key components that can help you understand how to lead your own life/business with digital marketing!
#1 Building connections and relationships through digital marketing?
This is one of the challenges many businesses have to face, especially during 2020. With the invention of the “home office” and the only face-to-face interaction happening through video meetings, it has become less personal and more difficult to strengthen connections with other people.
Now, building great and stable relationships with clients and gaining their trust virtually is only one of the challenges businesses have to face.
#2 However, digital Marketing is everywhere..
Since all the contact is mainly virtual now, the tight communication that you are able to have with your potential clients and regular clients is impressive. In contrast to traditional marketing, digital marketing is a great way to expose brands through various platforms and channels such as social networks, email, and websites. Being accessible for clients to follow you on different platforms to see what you do or create as a company can open up new doors to reach potential clients.
For example, you can have an email that can have specific algorithms that provides you a lot of metrics, which allows you to analyze your business and its content in an efficient way.
With all these tools and functions of digital marketing it is important to have a strategy to understand what type of target audience you are trying to reach and what type of target you are trying to conquer. There is a whole journey that exists behind digital marketing due to the fact that it is present on multiple platforms such as social networks, email, videos, or a livestream, and enables a bigger range to reach potential clients.
For instance, you can have clients following you on those platforms for a while but you catch one client’s interest through a video on youtube and another ones through an instagram publication.
The range to reach has expanded enormously!
#3 What type of campaigns work the best for B2B or B2C campaigns?
You need to understand your business and what cycle your business is in. For example, there is a difference between being in the beginning of your business as an entrepreneur that wants to establish a stable foundation and being someone who has already worked in the field for a longer period of time and has stabilized multiple areas of the business.
For instance, if you have a type of campaign that speaks directly to the customer, it is important to create the content step by step and take enough time to brainstorm and analyze what message you try to put out there and what the meaning is supposed to be. It brings more value to the content than posting regularly without putting the time and effort into the message and the meaning of the publication.
Another great advice is to be okay with saying yes for help. Be willing to receive help from people that can take you to the next level. Do not miss the opportunity to work side by side with someone that might know the market better than you. It does not matter how much experience you have or how big the range of your target market is.
There is always room for growth and to expand your knowledge. Another person can think of an idea that you would have never thought of. Therefore be open-minded in terms of new ideas especially from an international perspective. There might be certain ideas that work in your country but are not successful in another country due to specific restrictions or regulations.
#4 Is budget a barrier for digital marketing?
The question that needs to be asked is: “how to deal with the budget?”
Managing the budget correctly can either move the company or brand forward or managing it wrong can cause problems for the company.
As a business owner it is important to take into account that marketing should be 5 % to 10 % of your business because at the end of the day that is what people see and what helps you to grow your business. Therefore, not being afraid to invest into that part of the business is advisable and should not be considered a barrier.
However, for the beginning stages of many Start-Ups it might be difficult or complicated to see the amount of money that can be invested into this. But, at the end of the day everyone needs to consider that in order to see their business grow they have to invest!
#5 from seminar to webinar…
The webinar strategy is an important key to the success of a business and digital marketing. It is necessary to view all the important aspects that are part of the webinar because it is actually an entire process up until the day it starts.
The first part is the strategy which includes the figure out and define the target audience and what the goal of this event is.
Second part is to understand and clearly define the content that is going to be presented to the audience. In this part of the preparation it is important to think about the type of content and its value and message that is provided for everyone.
Third part of this process is to capture your audience at the webinar. You never know who can possibly attend and some attendees can be potential clients. Therefore, it is very important to build a connection and a good relationship with the audience during the webinar and make the experience as insightful and valuable as possible but also to go beyond and see what other content you can provide them with after.
Last but not least, the follow up is another key component. It is used to not let the started connection fade too easily and keep the audience entertained for future webinars, events, or opportunities to become your potential clients.
The journey of 2020 has shown us its “ups and downs” but digital marketing has definitely become an “up” for many businesses and entrepreneurs.
